Welcome to the adventures of Highway Wolf... a unique musical project led by Mick Hellman and his creative partners, Tal and Amber Morris, who create a sonic experience through this collection of reimagined classics. Highway Wolf takes us on a transformational journey, relatable to anyone who has been challenged by The Call, and all that comes with answering The Call. The songs are of the human experience and through the howling and longing of the Highway Wolf we come to understand these stories through another lens.

The songs on “Purdie’s Dream” were chosen for the range of emotional themes they cover and how they inspire Mick to “howl at the moon”. The album kicks off with “Back In the High Life Again” which represents Highway Wolf’s memories of happy times; Track 2 is “In the City”, Highway Wolf surviving day to day; Track 3 is “Father & Son” Highway Wolf grapples with two aspects of himself, the Father and the Son; the rational and the emotional, the tamed and the wild, the man and the beast; “Blue Letter” follows finding Highway Wolf on the road to paradise and in search of a soul mate. Finally the record concludes with Track 5 “Silver Springs”, penned by Stevie Nicks, a poignant reflection on the haunting power of longing and love.

It was recorded at Laughing Tiger Studio in San Rafael, CA, Produced by Tal Morris and Amber Morris, Engineered by Ari Rios & Erin Tadega, Mixed by Alan Hertz of HzWorkz, and Mastered by Patricia Sullivan of Bernie Grundman Mastering. The album features a diverse lineup of talented Bay Area Musicians composed of Mick’s friends and family.
